June 5,12,19,25 2025

9:30am -11:30am (Pacific), 12:30pm- 2:30pm (EST)

Paint Everything | See the Extraordinary in the Ordinary

From the light on a beautiful face to the glow of a simple still life, this class is about learning to see—and paint—the quiet beauty in everyday life. Each week, Dominique demonstrates and narrates her process step by step, exploring composition, values, color, and texture while working from a variety of sources: everyday objects, photographs, and master paintings.

Students are welcome to follow along with Dominique’s chosen subject or bring their own—whether still life, landscape, portrait, or figure. The goal is to discover the magic in our daily surroundings and to make visible what often goes unseen.

Critiques:
One of the most valuable parts of a live class is hearing the instructor respond to student work. Dominique recreates that experience through weekly group critiques. These sessions are rich learning opportunities—not only through feedback on your own work, but also through observing how others grow.

  • Need to miss a lesson…no problem! Demos and Critiques are recorded and uploaded by 5pm Pacific Time, Lifetime Access to Videos.

Still life painting is an essential practice for mastering the techniques that form the foundation of all painting disciplines. We’ll focus on the four key aspects of painting: Proportion, Value, Color, and Edge. Using a carefully selected primary palette of seven colors, we will refine our understanding of color relationships and theory. Through technical exercises and the completion of two paintings, we will sharpen our observation skills and deepen our ability to translate what we see onto the canvas.

Procreate for Painters | Part 2

May 7, 14, 21, 28 (4 Wednesdays),

9:30am- 11:30am (Pacific), 11:30- 1:30 (EST)

Instructor: Agustina Forest

Procreate for Painters – Part 2: Editing Reference & Composition

In this follow-up Procreate class, we’ll take your digital art skills to the next level with a focus on  editing reference, composition, and building a strong reference for painting. Designed especially for traditional artists—particularly oil painters—this workshop will help you develop a digital workflow that supports your creative process.

Agustina will guide you through practical techniques for using Procreate as a powerful planning tool. You’ll learn how to strengthen your compositions, experiment with light and color, and combine multiple references into one cohesive image—before ever picking up a brush.

In this workshop you will learn how to:

  • Edit and manipulate photo references

  • Strengthen compositions and value structures

  • Experiment with color and lighting digitally before painting

  • Combine multiple references into a cohesive painting plan

  • Build digital skills that support traditional oil painting

  • Troubleshoot a portrait using Procreate

Requirements:

This class is intended for students who already have a basic working knowledge of Procreate. You should feel comfortable with things like:

  • Importing and resizing an image

  • Using basic adjustment tools (like brightness/contrast or hue/saturation)

  • Making and editing selections

If you’re not quite there yet, we recommend purchasing and watching Part 1 of this series first: Procreate for Painters - Part 1

Class Format:

This class includes pre-recorded sessions where you’ll learn step-by-step techniques, and a live session where we’ll review your own references. You’ll be able to ask questions, get feedback, and watch live demonstrations on how Agustina would approach editing your images.

Agustina won’t be going too fast, but she also won’t be reviewing every basic tool—so you can expect a steady, thoughtful pace that assumes you’re already a little familiar with the app.

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to use Procreate as a smart and supportive tool to help you create stronger, more intentional references for your paintings.

Tuition: $200 (Beginner)

Theme for the month | Finish That Painting!

Each week we will work on one painting that we started in the past year but haven’t yet finished. Ideally they are paintings that we did in class together, but they could be work you have done on your own. Dominique will select 4 unfinished demos from the past year and each week she will aim to finish one of them. This is a good opportunity to learn about glazing, scumbling and more generally how to work edges, detail, texture and put the final touches on a painting.

Each week students receive critiques of their work and as always, we use a limited palette to help us understand color theory and relationships. Each week students receive critiques. Enjoy lifetime access to the class demos and critique recordings.

Portrait and Figure - Practice Group.

Each week we work from a live model. Each month is a combination of portrait and figure poses. Figure poses will either be clothed or nude and we will paint between 1-4 paintings per month.

Dominique will critique students work throughout the session as well as paint with the group. Students can watch, ask questions and/or paint along. The main idea is to work from life, learn how to paint what we see accurately and get a good likeness in a limited time frame.

Painting with a Limited Palette Online - Long Pose

Theme for the month | Portrait with a Golden Helmet

This month we return to portrait painting but with a twist. We will paint Rembrandt's portrait, "A Man with the Golden Helmet". This brings together portrait painting and still life in one painting.

As always Dominique demonstrates the painting process and breaks it down into clear steps. We use a limited palette to help us understand color theory and color relationships. Each week students receive critiques. Enjoy lifetime access to the class demos and critique recordings.

Alla Prima Portraits with a Limited Palette

Workshop Description

An efficient way to develop our observation and intuition is by practicing Alla Prima painting. In this 2-day Portrait Painting Workshop we will investigate some of the skills and techniques that make our portraits luminous and beautiful. Dominique demos and shows you a process of painting with clear and systematic steps. We will use a primary palette of 7 colors that is designed to help us master color theory and demystify color mixing. We will paint 2 or 3 paintings by the end of the weekend.

Skill level is not that important although basic drawing skills are a plus. Any student that is interested in receiving instruction and willing to put in the practice is welcome.
